Covid-19 Update ~ June 5, 2020

We continue to remain closed due to the Calaveras County Health Department and the State of California “Stay-at-Home” Orders in effect, for all non-essential guests until further notice. We look forward to gathering with you in the future and are hopeful to welcome guests soon. 

The state of California is currently in Stage 2 – Travel and Tourism is in Stage 3 as noted below.  Part and partial from the State of California website:

The following sectors, businesses, establishments, or activities are NOT permitted to operate in the State of California at this time:

Personal services such as nail salons, tattoo parlors, gyms and fitness studios
Indoor museums, kids museums, gallery spaces, zoos and libraries
Community centers, including public pools, playgrounds, and picnic areas
Entertainment venues, such as movie theaters, gaming, gambling, arcade venues, pro sports,
Hospitality services, such as bars, wineries, tasting rooms and lounges
Concert venues
Live audience sports
Theme parks
Hotels/lodging for leisure and tourism – non-essential travel
Higher Education

Please know that we are concerned about the COVID-19 outbreak and the safety and well-being of our guests, employees, and our community. Be assured that we adhere to the highest standards of cleanliness and hospitality.

We have increased the frequency of disinfection and cleaning of high-touch communal indoor and outdoor areas, including handrails, stair railings, entry doors, living, dining and kitchen areas.

We are practicing “room distancing” to allow no less than 24 hours before and after check-in and check-out for the room to be prepared for guest arrival.

We have removed all extra bedding/pillows from our rooms.  If you would like extra pillows or blankets, please let us know.  We will be happy to provide them for your stay.

The evolving nature of this event requires flexibility as we follow both state and local guidelines with regards to the Coronavirus.

Cancellation Policy Updates

We are working with individual guests to come up with a solution to future reservations, change requests and cancellations. Please contact us directly if you need assistance with your current reservation or a future booking.

Terms and Conditions for Dunbar House Inn and Event Property


Minimum Stay

2-night minimum stay requirements are in effect for weekends, and during holidays and local events.


All reservations are taken with a 50% deposit at the time of the booking.


Prior to 72 hours of your reservation, cancellations will be accepted with a $20.00 processing fee. All other cancellations less than 72 hours will result in the forfeiture of the deposit unless the room can be rebooked.

Check in and Check out

Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.; check-out time is 11:00 a.m.

Need to arrive earlier than 3:00 pm? With advanced arrangements and a nominal fee of $20.00, we will have your room ready as early as 12:30 pm on the day of arrival.

If arriving later than 7:00 p.m., kindly advise us and we will provide you with our late check-in process.

Damages and Replacement Fees

Damage to the property, including but not limited to guest rooms, fixtures, furnishings, artwork, décor or bed linens, will result in a fee for replacement value or necessary cleaning. This fee will be charged to the credit card on file.


The house and grounds are open to our guests only, ensuring the ultimate in privacy.


We are NOT a pet-friendly property.


A maximum of two individuals is allowed in each guestroom.

We do not offer roll-away or inflatable beds.


The Dunbar House Inn and Event Property is an intimate, romantic and private haven and we are unable to accommodate children.


Smoking is NOT ALLOWED on the property, including guest rooms, balconies, and porches. A $250.00 fee will be applied for the cleaning of a room if smoking occurs in the room or on the balcony or porch.

Gift Certificates

Cannot be processed through the online booking system at this time. Please call us directly at 209-728-2897 and mention you have a Gift Certificate to apply to your reservation at the time of reservation.
