Date of event: June 2nd, 2019 at 2:30pmWhile the Dunbar House Bed & Breakfast Inn is steeped in history, we’re always trying something new. To keep up with the times, we’ve decided to host a brand-new event: a paint ’n’ sip class.

Paint ‘n’ sips all the rage now. What’s not to like? For an affordable price, you can have an evening of fun with family and friends, with supplies and wine already provided. You paint a little, you laugh a lot, you sip some wine, and you go home in good spirits with a new piece of artwork. Sounds like an amazing way to spend an evening to us.

For our first-ever paint ’n’ sip class, we’ve recruited paint instructor Janelle Baker-Knodel of Janelle’s Paint Squad to lead this special, fun evening.

“I’ve always enjoyed art! I took it four years in high school—drawing, painting, sculpting, pottery—and continued it in my career,” she said.

Janelle is an artist in several mediums. As well as being a paint ’n’ sip instructor, she is a manicurist and loves to do nail art. (She’s seriously good—check out her nail art on Instagram at _nailsbyjanelle_ to see for yourself.) You can follow Janelle’s Paint Squad on Facebook and Instagram to see examples of her artwork.

Although she loves art and is a talented artist, Janelle hadn’t planned on starting a paint ’n’ sip business until she attended a few with her friends.

“They kept telling me that was something I could teach locally, and they thought I’d be good at it,” she said. “I wasn’t completely convinced, but I love a challenge. So, I jumped in and began what has turned out to be one of the most fulfilling jobs I’ve had! Watching people create, fall in love with their own creation, and leave happy is the best feeling!”

You don’t have to be an artist to attend a paint n’ sip class. Just ask Janelle.

“Anyone can do these classes…they have full instruction, I walk around and assist as desired, and you can let your creativity run wild!”

So, we have the paint covered, but what about the sip? Our featured wine for the evening will be from the award-winning winery Jazz Cellars of Murphys.

Examples of images from previous painting classes offered by Janelle Baker-Knodel. Two wine glasses as they "clink" with colorful splashes of liquid escaping. A logo for Jazz Cellars, and a patriotic image with red sunset and jets crossing the sky.

Janelle Baker-Knodel will be the paint instructor with these two painting options available, as well as wine from Jazz Cellars.

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the paint ’n’ sip will begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are $45 per seat and include a glass of wine, yummy finger foods, and everything you will need to paint. There will be two painting options available: a picture of two wine glasses splashing into a heart or a patriotic painting—perfect for a Father’s Day present and/or a special gift for your favorite veteran. Either choice will be pre-sketched onto a canvas, unless you would prefer a blank one. Tickets can be purchased in advance here, directly from Janelle at Images Salon in Murphys, or from Lisa Kasper at the Dunbar House Bed & Breakfast Inn (209) 728-2897.

So put a paintbrush in one hand, a glass of wine in the other, and join Janelle here at the Dunbar House Bed & Breakfast Inn June 2 for an unforgettable evening of fun.
